Rollin Bones MCC
the
AGM 2008

**********************************************************************************

Here is the abbreviated version o' the main facts.....

Nobody new wished to stand for any o' the exalted 'positions' o' bein' a committee member.
So, the existing committee were kept oan in their hyper-efficient majesty we know so well.

This was firsted and seconded by peeps that Ross will remember, an' a cannae:…

The end :)

AGM Minutes completo ! :)

**********************************************************************************

Oh, okay then, there wiz some other stuff as well….

But really it didnae amount to ower much:

The first matter we considered was a wee look at the finances o' the club; then blather aboot the Egg Run an' chunters oan aboot insurance an' MAG or BMF; then onto more yap an blether about last years social m'larkey an' runs.... and then a wee bit on this years upcomin' runs.

Anyway here is a meanderin' completely flawed account o' aw the goins' on.......

The Beginning:

See there was this long delay at the start; about 15mins in total while a few tardy souls turned up…..so we eventually started aboot 15mins late…mebbe later.
Along with the wait were several mutterin's an general greetin's, aw aboot when are we gonnae start. The main positive this added was relievin' the boredom.

This kinda set a tone for the meetin' throughout.

What should have been a straightforward re-election o' the existin' incumbents, wasn't.
Instead, for the assembled few. It was 26 in total…but sombody will nae doot tell me; "That's wrang....so it is !".

Once underway, we all had tae listen to varying cat calls an 'points of order'……it has to be said, generally raised by oor Greig. Man did he enjoy hisel' in hecklin' an correctin' Raymie on
just about every next step he tried to take….. aw guid fun, but mebbes no furr Raymie :
In between this, there was also a witty slag or two comin' frae the back…a think oor John.
No the auld fellah, by the way…but the John that's aye beatin' his gums aboot summit…
Then once the lips seal …..always followed wae a witty facial expression :)

Finances:

The jist o' aw the shennanigans is: the finances o' the club are sound an' remain in the dubious hands o' oor John….thanks for aw the time an' effort ye put in John, it's much appreciated.

The Egg Run:

This may an' may not; go ahead as the number o' bikes is noo oot o' hand. So much so that start an finish venues cannae cope. Boo hoo, nae mair 'Kelvinway or finish at the Hosp'. One option the twa fine lads frae MAG are lookin' at is, the SECC…watch yer website furr further updates.

MAG / BMF:

On the public liability insurance chew….. the issues were MAG bein' seen as mair 'political'. This was thought by some to be a guid thing (me); particularly if ye think bikin' an' furr that matter most things 'high risk', will be legislated against, to make them 'low risk' …
which isnae good for anyone what enjoys their bike !
An additional point was some feeling that MAG still more represented rockers an' choppers. This lobby feel we'd be better wae the BMF; which in ma view is fu' o divvies an' snivelies'! Who would do little to defend oor fun an' certainly not like MAG may …..

Anyway getting me of ma soapboax: the main point is, that club membership o' Mag would be about £50 + another £300 (?) for public liability insurance. Too expensive for the insurance ! However, yer Bimff (BMF) would be about £125 total, includin' liability insurance. NB:The figures are very rough, an are as a guide only.

So the solution is in joining both - we have both groups links on our home page - that way, we get the best o' both. The sum of £125 for liability cover an' membership to the BMF an' only £50 for joining MAG to continue defending our interest against the 'no more bikes' lobby.

No decision was made but might be in the comin' months: again watch yer website.

Club Runs:

Oor Gavin then flung in his bit aboot aw the guid bit's o' the year; as in the social nights oot; parties an the like, then there was a wee yadder yadder on yer actual bike runs.

The overview was that evrehin' we did last year was a success an' well received in general.
On partees, there was some grumbling about the Christmas do at the Kings Park Hotel. One idea was to mebbe move it to 'Sweepers' itself an' ask oor Lesley to look efter us aw….
As before, watch yer website through the year (that's regularly, ya muppets !).
In short Gavin, keep up the guid work yer a fine lad made o' the right stuff.

On the runs: it was felt it was a bad year wae a great deal o' wetness about, meanin' several
"….but a don't like the rain !" riders were not seen regularly if at all. A mean; who'd go oot oan yer bike in the rain, when ye can stay in an' ha' a richt guid gem' o' doms :)

There was thought frae some that runs o' 300miles are too long for a one day ride out. But the other side o' this coin; is there is only a couple o' longer runs a year. Surely this means, there is a choice there for everyone. But nevertheless, the rider most likely to come up wae long runs, agreed to limit distance a tad an' keep it under 300 an' if poss, nearer to 250 miles. As a further alternative; if there is a feeling that a particular run might be too long or too twisty; then the easiest option is for that day to either not go; or to plan and lead an' alternative shorter run.

There was also a request to know if 'Away Wahay 3' wid be happenin'. The answer is oh aye: The mannie what looks after this 'biking' weekend will be doin' it again this year. Mileage will be around 250/275 miles each day; over three days and on some o' Scotlands finest bike roads. O' course this'd be avoidin 'Altnaharra' an the grey horses :)

This year, there will be two differing mystery hotel locations on the way roon the 'North Loop'. This route will also let the bike riders who go enjoy a wee stop at John o' Groats.
Mebbe this year we'll get oor pikchurr in the MCN or better, 'Two Wheels'. :)

Ah'll add in a wee note in case emdi's interested: the 'Ower Tha Bawrdurr' will not be goin to Hartside: thus avoiding motorways and /or skiddly wee gravel roads. We'll be over yon border, but only for a few miles an then up via Newcastleton an' Hawick.

The End:

Afore closin' ah'd just like tae say thanks to all o' the committee….
For all they do, big an' small, to keep oor club goin…

To Raymie whose lookin' forward to enjoyin' a tad more time with us this year.
To Ross for oor members lists an' a load o work, that many see not.
To John for cookin', sorry keepin' the books - nae fun at aw.
To Gavin for all oor social events an for oor bike ridin' calendar.
To Mike for his sterlin' work on the website: even if he disnae update it regularly enough.
This may because the 'scribbler' (moi) disnae supply enough yak !

By the way, anyone can supply stuff for the website feel free to share wae 'Twinloon' or 'Me'. Simply e-mail it to either and it'll be on the website double quick.

Oh, an, a wee mention for those willing to put the time an responsibility intae a run.

At the end o' the day....
We are a bike club an' we are not here for the beers or the freens, nor even the laughs.....
What we are really here for is our bikes an ridin' them….
Though aw the other stuff a jist mentioned, is well up there as well :)

Oaklay doaklay: finishin' off then a grand an' well exciting AGM meetin'….
If ye weren't there, ye missed yersel'…… an' if ye were ther', ye either heckled or slept :) :) :)

Ta ta the noo
