Hullo ther...
Here's some blether frae Sunday's bikeshow.
Who was there:
Ye'd think wae thoosands o' people there; that it'd be impossible to see any other club members there;... er, wrong ! In all there was 15 members there; well really 16, if ye allow for one unoffishull 'honarary' member: as in, yer scribes Dad !
However none of this travellin' was by bikes.
But this was purely so we could bring back all the stuff we didnae buy. No way, was it anythin' to do wae the fact that we are a bunch o' softies whit are scared o' ridin' oor bikes in cold an' wet weather. So I hope that's cleared that up... he he he ! :)
The 16 were as follows....
Twinloon,
Auld John, Billy, Gaz an' Dad;
John, Tricia, Jim an' Steph;
Raymie, Eric an' Robert;
Greg an' Lorraine;
Derek an' Alan;
Now ye don't need to be a rocket scientist to have worked out that's 5 veehickles...next year ah'll try and organise a minibus or summit... if enough thinks that's worthwhile (?).
Weather:
Weather
was a bit iffy, generally cold and with spells of heavy rain. Why do they
keep holding this event in early to mid March ! The outside events were -
as always in dodgy weather - compromised.
But, inside it was business as usual.
Inside:
In the door to BM'Y' oops, sorry a meant BMW... he he he ! While across the way, was sexy an fun KTM... ...mmmmm :) Much sittin' on bikes ensued, but two o' the company were practically glued to the BM stand; wonder who !?
Thereafter we generally drifted around. It wasn't easy to keep together in the throng and particularly so for the first above listed group; as the oldest member of our company was using his mobility 'Bandit' to get about. This meant a wee bit of hanging about as he struggled to make a way through the throng, without running over toes or bashin' into ankles.
Bandit's:
On this, can I just say a big thank you to Twinloon, John and Billy for their help and input in making my Dad's day that bit more special...also to Tricia and Steph for chatting away to my Dad while I 'windae shopped' wae Jim and others on the KTM stand.
Shoppin':
Other marques that stood out: well certainly for Greg and I were Moto Guzzi. See both of us like the new Griso 8v ..nice very nice. Difference is Greg is actually buyin' one where ah'm only sleverin' !!!
Another attraction was some 'babe' hangin' about (or out) beside Nick Sanders at his stand. Apparently this slightly and definitely tightly attired laydee... was attracting looks from all directions....
Well anyway; Twinloon bought the 'Timbuktu' DVD and had it signed by the man himself. I looked and initially couldn't find the stand, as the laydee was overworked and had apparently gone for a ly down... not sure who with though....
On the availablilty of bargains, there were two issues... there were no mega attractive deals and anyway, ah'm not sure any of us had much moolah to throw around. I did a see a deal on a rear stand for £25 but as I'd just bought front and rear for £40 from M&P; this reflected the lack of absolute 'bargains'.
Scott Leathers were there and that reminded me of how much I'd like a guid two piece for a big burfday ah've got comin up in the decade.... Are you readin' this Molly (?) :)
Outside:
Also worth seeing if only as it was something special for said 'Bandit' rider: was the two bikes in a spherical cage act... Two bikes hammerring around inside a small - approx' 20" - heavy mesh cage... one horizontally and the other vertically...all within inches of each other. Pretty impressive stuff !
Other stuff that none of us did, but that we mebbe could have, given better communication. Was m'larkey like 'The Wall' - a 30" vertical sport climbing wall. Now every body wouldn't want to do it, but heh, it'd be a laugh watchin' the competitive few that did .... Also there, were mini moto's: now they would have provided a guid giggle, particularly if we had arranged to pre-book an RBMCC 'race' at a given time....
Come to think of it ...organising a minibus for next year is lookin' like a grand plan .....but only if MCN's organisers manage to properly fill the halls and offer more outside exhibitors and attractions: not to mention movin' the date to late April early May.
See you all tha morrah.
Gaz
